The architectural approach and detailed design used for the Video IP 2D-DCT/IDCT are not unique to that product, and will be used in our future IP offerings, which are set to offer large power savings in a range of DSP functions, and higher throughput with only a marginal increase in silicon area.

2D-DCT/IDCT
The first IP to be designed, a low-power high-throughput configurable 8x8 2D-DCT/IDCT intended for use in image processing and is available now for purchase.

As well as for new developments, it is intended to offer a replacement for your existing 2D-DCT/IDCT IP, whether originally bought-in or designed in-house, whether stand-alone or part of a larger JPEG/MPEG function. Available throughput is also higher than any other offerings seen, operating at four times the symbol rate. As well as the high throughput it has approximately 1/3 of the power consumption of other similar functions seen on the market, achieved by use of novel architecture and advanced detailed design techniques. A very significant power reduction in your final product could result.
